Voilà quelques années que les grands portails et acteurs du web se livrent une guerre sans merci pour s’incruster dans le navigateur au travers des plugins et autres barre : Yahoo! Toolbar, Google Toolbar… A force, ça fini par faire beaucoup de monde qui empiète sur la surface d’affichage et “remonte” la limite de visibilité (un véritable casse-tête pour les concepteurs de sites qui doivent en tenir compte).
La version 7 d’Internet Explorer avait innover en remontant certains boutons dans le cadre de la fnêtre elle-même, libérant ainsi un peu de place en hauteur. Et bien figurez-vous que la bataille est maintenant ouverte sur une nouvelle zone de la fenêtre à conquérir : la barre d’adresse.

Being a Firefox user (who knew? ) on the Mac, I know that many Mac-users would like to see Firefox better integrated with OS X. Well, with Firefox 3 Beta 1, things are definitively on the right track:

There have been numerous reports recently that "Mozilla will not fix 80% of the remaining 700 blocker bugs in Firefox 3". Some Mozilla members call bullshit, some other get into lengthy explanations.

PCInpact reprend l'info mais oublie de dire qu'en Europe, le phénomène est encore plus accentué, avec des parts de marché de Firefox qui ont dépassé 23% fin 2006 ;
IE7 gagne du terrain grâce à MS qui pousse l'installation, mais la part de marche de Firefox ne souffre pas ;
la croissance d'IE7 se fait aux dépends d'IE6 ;

Alors qu'on spécule sur un éventuel portage de Safari sous Windows, ZDNet.com interroge ses lecteurs sur leurs envies de navigateurs. Il en ressort que 28% des répondants préfèrent rester avec Firefox, 63% aimeraient aussi voir arriver Safari sous Windows, porté par Apple. Seulement 6% préfèrent rester avec IE et 3% pour Opera. C'est un signe fort du désintérêt des lecteurs envers IE, toutes versions confondues, et la volonté de disposer de choix. Quand on y pense, c'est un revirement incroyable par rapport à la situation d'il y a 2 ans !
On peut se poser la question d'un éventuel portage de Safari sous Windows. Ca n'est pas si bête, et la firme à la pomme aurait intérêt à le faire pour les raisons suivantes :
